The American Eagle The American Song

Many men and women have paid the ultimate price for America, The American Eagle, American Song for Americans

 About The American Eagle

Born and raised in Georgia, I listened to a wide range of music over the years. In my younger days I liked rock n roll, country and fifties music. My favorite entertainer was Elvis Presley. I would imitate him and sing his songs as a kid. Elvis sang with an abundance of emotion making his songs one of a kind. Songs like American Trilogy, Oh my Love, and How great thou art still give me chills.

My father remarried a country singer who toured the southeast when I was twelve. When she wasn't touring, full bands would play in our home every weekend. I would sit in and play the guitar and sing along whenever I could. I played the guitar on and off for years, just enjoying it as a hobby now and then. In my early  thirties I picked up the guitar again, and started not only playing, but writing my own songs.

Tragically September 11th occurred stunning millions of  Americans as the world watched in horror as we were attacked by terrorist. After September 11th new patriotic songs hit the airwaves expressing there view of patriotism. Some were sad, some were mad, and some were about showing the world how strong we were in the face of adversity.

One night my brother and I were talking about September 11th as I strummed my guitar, when out of the blue my brother said you should write a patriotic song. He started singing as I put chords to the verse, and the American eagle was coming to life. At that point I seriously started thinking..... We should write a patriotic song that really reflects what it takes for Americans to be free. My point of view is this, we can never forget the countless number of men and women that have died for this country. The very freedom we enjoy today is not free, and the ultimate price was paid by many. For the next few weeks we continued working and writing until we finished what is now The American Eagle.

Upon completion I recorded the American eagle demo at the studio, and sent a few copies out to major recording studios. A few months later I received a phone call from someone at BMG records. I really wasn't that surprised at the time I thought if it was good they would call. Well being one of the first songs we had written the gentleman on the phone told me to add a hook, meaning give the song a roller coaster effect and a little something more. I thought that was nice someone from a major recording studio contacting me and giving me advice. I figured I would hear from him again, not thinking to get his number or information. I just assumed he would call back or another major company would be calling, surely someone would here it and most certainly want to record it for the world to hear.

It has been several years since the completion of The American Eagle, and since that phone call I started doing more research about the music industry and how it works. I now realize that it is extremely difficult to get a major recording studio to listen to your demo, much less publish, produce and have a major artist record it. Record companies have a strict process were they simply dump hundreds of demos in the trash daily from unknown artist trying to be heard, if the right mark is not on the package meaning they know the person sending it, the demo goes in the trash. Basically you have to either know someone or have very large bank roll to get a song on the airwaves. That is the two ways to get your song heard.

So were asking for Americans to help us spread the word, and with your contributions we will get this song published, produced and performed by a major recording artist. We do not seek fame or fortune we simply want America to remember.  We feel this song reflects and pays tribute to those who paid the ultimate price giving everything including their heart and soul to this country we call the United States of America.
